Are you a photographer, either amateur or professional, who would be willing to donate your services during Fall Fest weekend this year (October 23-24)? If so, we want to talk to you. The job requirements are simple: walk around the park with your camera taking photos, and then provide high res copies of them to us. New (sort of) Atlanta Police Chief

Jul 9 2010

From the AJC:

In part ceremony, part promotion, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed officially removed the “interim” from George Turner’s title by naming him the new Atlanta Police Chief.

But the interim tag was crucial in Reed’s decision. The mayor said that since he appointed Turner to temporarily hold the office in January, the performance and morale of the police department has been markedly improved.

Overall crime is down 14 percent and violent crimes are down 22.7 percent over the last six months, Reed said.

Robbery on Nelms Avenue

Jun 28 2010

Circulated via email from a resident on Nelms:

On Friday evening at approximately 1 am, a young woman was held at gunpoint by five teenage African American males. The assailants pointed two guns at her and demanded money. When she stated she had none, they told her to get out of her car and then they jumped in and drove away.

The police were called and a report was filed, but as of today we have not heard if progress in finding them has been made.

We can only assume that they were waiting for anyone to pull up anywhere on the street to steal from.
