Committee Updates
- Safety Report (Larry Compton)
- Working to update the website now. July stats are also looking very good.
- I know we have had some thefts from vehicles that were not reported (normal).
- Also working reports of a person stalking and/or displaying lewd behavior while inside a vehicle. This is going on in both CP and Lake Claire; Zone 6 is aware and is sending extra patrols to reported spots in Lake Claire especially.
- Infrastructure (Naoya Wada)
- Safer McLendon update
- Received $5000 in NPU-N Community Impact Grant Funding!
- Gathering materials for Candler Park Drive Tactical Urbanism application submission to ATL DOT
- Iverson Park/MARTA Gate:
- Had a meeting with MARTA and ATL Parks Dept
- MARTA is opposed to putting in a gate
- External Affairs (Chris Spruell)
- Two zoning ordinances will be voted on in NPU-N’s July meeting: Z-24-43 and Z-24-44.
- While neither affect Candler Park directly (since they are related to the Beltline Overlay) and thus are not being brought to a CPNO vote, some portions of CP are within the .5 mile radius of a transit center. Ultimately, these ordinances prohibit the construction of data centers in these areas due to the high demands placed on utilities and due to the need for an increase in large vehicle traffic. If anyone has concerns, please reach out to the External Affairs officer at externalaffairs@candlerpark.org.
- Historic Designation (Emily Taff)
- Committee met on Wednesday, June 26, via Zoom. Aaron Fortner was out of town so Emily Taff updated the committee on the latest changes suggested for the Draft historic district proposal which will be reviewed and updated at a Regulations Team meeting with Aaron in July.
- Discussed plans for Open Houses and other ways to reach the entire neighborhood to make sure everyone is aware and knows what is being proposed ahead of a planned presentation of the proposal to be voted on at the August CPNO meeting and a vote (on whether or not to submit) in September.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:58 pm.
