Safer McLendon marked an exciting milestone with its first Tactical Urbanism project during the third weekend of November. After months of preparation, including applications, permitting, and planning, committee members and volunteers came together to clean, prime, and paint the intersection of Candler Park Drive and McLendon Avenue. The design, inspired by the Candler Park logo, features vibrant colors and artwork that enhance safety and showcase neighborhood pride at this busy intersection.
The goal has always been to create a safer, more accessible environment for everyone, especially pedestrians and cyclists. These improvements will have a daily impact, benefiting park visitors, Mary Lin students, their families, and our neighbors. And this is just the start—this project is the first of five planned upgrades aimed at transforming the shared corridor between Candler Park and Lake Claire into a safer, more welcoming space for all.
