Since 2018, Candler Park Forever has worked on its mission, “To create a sense of community among our aging-in-place neighbors by identifying needs, matching resources with residents and offering companionship while respecting privacy, autonomy and independence.”
During the past few years, Candler Park Forever has created the following activities:
- Regular Zoom calls during Covid
- Porch Parties following Covid restrictions
- Lunches at restaurants with patios
- Phone or text tree for daily safety checks
- Meal trains following illness or surgeries
- A 2022 pre-holiday art show
- Established a book club open to all CP residents
- A weekly reduced-price movie outing & dinner
Now we are, again, trying a new, exciting activity!! An Evening of Poetry Featuring Jericho Brown!!! The Pulitzer Prize winning poet will read several of his selections. Here’s another fun part – YOU CAN SHARE THE SAME STAGE THAT NIGHT!!
We are searching for poetry writers and lovers. We would totally enjoy hearing your original selections. Or, if you have a favorite poet or poem, share that with us. Email me at lexaking@gmail.com so we can get you on the program. The sooner the better, as time must be managed. See the display below for more details about the evening. Oh, and if you’re a listener, we need lots of those! Please join us for an evening of Poetry and Play. The more the merrier!!
