Candler Park Neighborhood Organization Members’ Meeting – January 15, 2024
The meeting was called to order at 7:03 pm by Christina Hodgen, President. The motion to adopt the agenda was by unanimous consent. The motion to approve the December 2023 minutes was by unanimous consent.
Little Five Point Business Alliance’s Travis Sharp reported the following: The Freedom Mural was restored by the original artist, Mr. Totem; the tree wells were refreshed; Ga. Works continue to clean up the Little Five Points area.
Saira Draper, District 90 Representative, presented the revised voting maps.
Kelly Stocks, Little Five Business Association, reported that an NPU grant paid for the sculptures; the “Heart’ Mural”will be going up; Little Five Point Variety Shows will start April 6; Movies will start every Friday evening and run for 12 weeks. Motion to support Little Five Points Variety Shows passed.
Dillon Thompson, Editor of the Messenger, announced the end of our relationship with KDA, publisher of the Messenger. The Messenger will go to a digital format and be sent out by email. It may also be found on Facebook or Instagram accounts.
Stop Signs: The newly erected stop signs on McLendon were stolen.
The Old Stone Church on Candler Park Drive has been designated as a historic landmark. A motion to support the historic designation of the Old Stone Church passed.
Proposed bylaw change:
“New members eligible to vote after attending a regular monthly meeting” will be the record date. Motion to call the question passed. The motion to add “new members become eligible to vote after attending a regular monthly meeting” failed.
Treasurer, Amy Wheeler: The 2023 income/expenses and the 2024 budget were explained.
Zoning, Jason Key: Motion to support an application for rezoning the property at 1221 Euclid Avenue failed.
