Recently—thanks to the efforts of concerned neighbors on Euclid and Euclid Terrace and with the help of our city councilman, Amir Farokhi, and his Chief of Staff, Jay Tribby—the City of Atlanta has installed new crosswalks and signage on Euclid Avenue in front of the International Montessori Academy and at the corner of Euclid and Euclid Terrace. Now, pedestrians have a clear place to cross Euclid and cars leaving Moreland Avenue are required to yield to pedestrians on this long down-hill stretch of Euclid. This is a welcome improvement in pedestrian safety—it’s safer for kids and parents walking to the International Montessori Academy and it’s safer for others, like me, just walking to Little Five to mail a letter or make a deposit at the credit union. I’ve been pleased to note that drivers do stop and let me cross.
