There's been a lot of action down by the Candler Park playground lately. As of July 15th, all three tower structures are up, the hill slides are installed with the boulders going in, and the old yellow swing set has been repainted and is ready to be put into place. The next major milestone is the shade sails, which were actually supposed to be installed first. However, an old lamppost in the middle of the playground needs to be removed so that the construction teams can dig the shade sail footings. That removal is a project that only Georgia Power can do, and the team has been in contact to schedule it. A little further up, the hillside underneath the tennis courts has been completely reinforced. The team at Integrated Land Design was able to take excess boulders from our slide hill and repurpose them for this project at no additional cost. By spreading dirt, terracing the hillside with reinforcing boulders, and then doing a round of planting this fall we shouldn't see any more issues with the hillside under the concrete wall being washed away.
