$3 million for Euclid
From the L5P Alliance Newsletter:
You did it!! Because of City of Atlanta voters who turned out in force on Tuesday to vote for the extension of the TSPLOST, Euclid Avenue will now have a $3M investment. Thank you for being supportive of the project and of investment in transportation infrastructure citywide.
The Euclid Ave improvements include building new sidewalks, removing a slip lane for cars, adding new trees and planters, creating a mid-block crossing, painting artistic crosswalks, fixing the intersection of Austin at Lake, and more. Read more about the project in our Little 5 Mobility Study.
While there is not yet a timeline for implementation, the Alliance has already been in touch Councilmember Amir Farokhi about next steps. We will continue to update you on the requests for proposals, contractor selection, and construction timeline. In the meantime, please send a note of thanks to Councilmember Farokhi at arfarokhi@atlantaga.gov for making sure Little 5 Points was on the project list.
Almost $3 million for “Candler Park Improvements”
The two infrastructure Bond questions also passed (with about 80% of the vote), allowing the city to borrow a combined $400 million in general obligation bonds to fund infrastructure improvements such as public safety facilities, recreation centers, parks and bicycle, and transit lanes.
Included in the projects to be funded by one of the infrastructure Bonds is $2,800,000 for “Candler Park Improvements” which includes the upgrade of the Active Lawn and construction of an outdoor Amphitheater described in the Candler Park Conservancy’s 2017 Vision Plan.
