Editor Wanted for Online Publication
(This is a volunteer position)
The Messenger is Candler Park’s online publication, a fun, robust website and newsletter that services some 2,000 households in the neighborhood.
In addition to reporting, the editor will gather and edit news, features and analysis pieces from a stable of writers in the neighborhood, post them to the website and deploy the monthly newsletter.
The Messenger publishes well- edited and well- reported stories that look at the bigger issues impacting the neighborhood as well as the slice-of-life pieces that make our part of town so special.
Our strategy has been: The more reporting the better, be it an update of the huge sewer infrastructure project, or a profile of a local restaurant. Art and photography are big and welcomed, photo spreads are a thing and so is our own cartoonist who commands space at least once a month.
The Messenger lives on a WordPress site, so some knowledge of that platform is required. The newsletter deploys monthly via Mailerlite, an easy to system to learn.
Come join our tight team of dedicated volunteer professionals, who will help you cover Candler Park, the perfect laboratory for hyper-local journalism.
