Thanks again for volunteering to help PEDS make communities in metro Atlanta safer and more inviting places to walk!
This weekend, graduate students at Georgia Tech need your help conducting a comprehensive inventory of sidewalk conditions in Atlanta! This project has a very important role in encouraging the City of Atlanta to repair its broken and damaged sidewalks. Training will be provided.
Volunteer opportunities for data collection are scheduled for this Saturday. Georgia Tech students will bring the equipment out to the location and be there from 10:00am to noon and from noon to 2pm. Volunteers will be able to go out into the field at any point during these times as long as they are able to return the equipment within one of these time frames.
Saturday, June 29, from 10 AM-2 PM
Druid Hills Baptist Church
1085 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Atlanta
Volunteers will use a wheelchair-mounted tablet outfitted with a special app to inventory sidewalk conditions. You will learn how to start the tablet application, understand pre-determined routes, and use the wheelchair-mounted tablet to collect video and geographic information. More information about the project is available online.
If you'd like to participate, please RSVP to let us know which one you can attend so the organizers know how many volunteers to expect.
I hope you can help out with this exciting project!
