As I write this, we have entered the month of October. Fall Fest, the L5P Halloween Parade and Halloween on Page make it the best month in Candler Park. It will also be the vote on whether or not our neighborhood wants to submit the proposed regulations for our historic district to the Atlanta Urban Design Commission.
The big vote will be on October 21st and there will be an online ballot. Only members who have renewed or joined by September 30th are eligible to vote. During the meeting, the motion will be made and we will allow for a pro/con comment period. Please remember members must behave in a courteous and respectful manner with no personal attacks.
Speaking of respect, our behavior in this moment can have consequences extending well beyond when this decision is final. Differing viewpoints should be welcome and not always deemed to be uninformed, archaic, etc. It’s time to vote and move on. This one issue is not worth ruining relationships with your neighbors and friends.
