A hot Saturday night in August.
Humans dream of cool breezes.
None to be had.
But wait!
Coolness awaits in the old granite building facing the golf course.
Glowing, welcoming lights beckon from long, rectangular windows.
Opening the front door greets all visitors with a gust of cooling, refreshing air.
The air may be cool, but the reception is warm.
Senior members of the community welcome the guests with an invitation to enter, enjoy a glass of wine, have refreshments and mingle with some neighbors and friends.
Drop some dollar bills into the box to fund some future neighborhood projects if you are able.
Twinkle lights hang from the ceiling, a well-used hardwood floor supports the chairs, tables and people.
A sampling of artwork adorns the walls.
Wine and conversation flow. Old friends and new acquaintances merge in a spirit of expectation and familiarity,
As the crowd settles, stirring, inspiring words of poetry emanate from the stage.
Several authors present multiple subjects to move and stimulate the audience. Knowing smiles are exchanged, perhaps some tears fall.
All manner of emotions are awakened.
Questions are fielded by the presenters.
Poetry books are purchased. Some may be future gifts.
Joy, relatedness, gratitude and caring are present.
