Celebrate Summer Solstice at the Mulberry Fields Community Garden

June 7, 2026 By Messenger Staff

By Jesse Bathrick

The excitement is building. Goats are dancing. Chickens are preening. Flowers are growing. And bluebirds are nesting. The garden is dressed in its finery of budding tomato and peppers plants, flowering okra, green beans, and blooming sunflowers.

Every living thing is welcoming our neighbors.

Mark your calendar to be at Mulberry Fields Community Garden on June 20 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. when we will celebrate a year of caring restoration and of our greenspace.

We will enjoy each other’s company at this admission-free event sipping beer and wine (with a donation), water, lemonade and iced tea as well. Children’s passports will be on sale for fun activities. Mulberry Fields commemorative t-shirts and mugs will be on sale as well.

Of course there will be food vendors serving yummy treats. We thank Coffyn Pies, Phantom Pizza and Jackson’s Grill for their support. We’ll also have some cool desserts (stay tuned for details).

And, of course, there will be entertainment.

Conundrum, an all-woman African drumming troupe will open our party. Then we will groove to the sounds of Liz Love Band and boogie and parade with The Marching Abominables.

The celebration will round off with the spectacular Chikabilly fire sculpture and a silent auction of fun and funky local items.

This wouldn’t happen without the support of our local business sponsors.

A few housekeeping notes:
• Please walk or bike to the party. There will be a designated bike parking spot.
• If you drive, please park at Candler Park MARTA station and walk a block north to Candler Street and turn left onto Iverson Street. Take a short two block walk to the garden entrance on your left
• Mulberry is on Google maps
• Bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets.

We cannot wait to see you out under the pecans on the longest day of the year — the Summer Solstice.
