Out and About with Lillian: Fellini’s and La Fonda Latina

September 12, 2026 By Messenger Staff

By Lillian Aynes.

This month, I visited two of Candler Park’s most popular dining spots: Fellini’s and La Fonda Latina. The Candler Park Fellini’s location opened in 1982, followed by La Fonda Latina in 1998.

With its bright neon sign and patio illuminated by lights, you can’t miss Fellini’s on the corner of McLendon Ave. It has a family-friendly atmosphere and is always packed with neighbors on weekend nights. They offer family-size pizzas and single slices. For dinner, I got the classic cheese pizza slice and one of their salads. It’s not only affordable, but freshly made. The salad was a great mix of iceberg lettuce and mixed vegetables.

Right across the street, LaFonda Latina is bustling with families on the patio and inside the restaurant. Like Fellini’s, the restaurant has both an outdoor porch, a variety of indoor seating, and a relaxed environment. They offer a mix of Mexican, Cuban, and Spanish dishes at a moderate price point. I ordered the chicken tacos, which have lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and chipotle sauce. They come served with a side of black beans and yellow rice. They were simple, but had just the right amount of flavor.

Overall, Fellini’s and LaFonda Latina are longstanding Candler Park staples. They’re family-friendly, but suitable for any occasion.
